Abstract: This data set consists of microparticle and chemistry data from Byrd Ice Core, the first ice core to reach bedrock in Antarctica. The core was drilled with a cable-suspended electromechanical rotary drill at Byrd Station, Antarctica. The vertical thickness of the ice was 2164 meters and more than 99 percent of the core was recovered. Cores were sought for investigations of the physical properties of the ice sheet, the nature of the ice-rock contact, and the composition of the underlying bedrock.
